SAS Daniels LLP launches 'sas laterlife' for seniors
Posted on: Tuesday June 23, 2009Cheshire law firm SAS Daniels LLP has launched a new service; SAS Later Life (www.saslaterlife.co.uk) fills a void by providing information about access to legal services on all matters directly related to over-50s and their carers.
One of the biggest areas where help is desperately needed relates to the funding of long term care.
“Currently there is little information available except the numerous leaflets handed out by local authorities or from the incohesive information on the internet,” said Carl Marston, Probate Lawyer, SAS Daniels LLP, Chester.
“Most people believe that their Local Authority will swoop down and take their house away if they or a spouse need long term care. This isn’t the case and with careful planning and our knowledge of the system, we can help to uphold the rights of older people who have built up savings over a lifetime of hard work, to manage or defer payments, or to obtain NHS funding for all care costs in appropriate cases. We have a record of success with this.
“With an ever-increasing and aging population, the wellbeing of older people is reaching a tipping point.
“The care system is creaking under the weight of pressure from an overstretched, incomprehensible system of funding for residential and nursing home care, financial abuse is increasing, questions of capacity are paramount and families are prepared to fight to the bitter end for a share of what they believe is their entitlement upon the death of a loved one.
“As a result, the people most in need of help and guidance are left without adequate recourses to guide them and this could in the near future result in the ultimate price: the loss of dignity and well-being for our older generation.
“Many of us, as we get older, will need some degree of care, which may be in our own home, in a care home or some other form of long term care. The aim of SASlaterlife is to provide help and guidance for our clients on the complex social and legal issues associated with getting older – helping to prepare clients for this before it’s too late.”
SAS Daniels LLP has one of the largest Probate departments in the North West, including a team of four specialist solicitors dealing only with Older Client work.
“We were aware of a need for a simple and cohesive source of information and wanted to create one dedicated focal point for our senior clients to ensure they and their carers can find all the necessary information to plan for their future – so we launched the service and the website; www.saslaterlife.co.uk,” said Carl.
The Later Life team offers a comprehensive, personal and confidential service whether executing a Will, preparing or registering a Power of Attorney, setting up a trust or planning how to meet long term care fees for a spouse or parent. It works with clients, carers and their families to ensure that they receive the best advice possible.
SAS Daniels LLP solicitors has offices in Stockport, Macclesfield, Chester, Congleton and Bramhall.
